Description

Explore some of Cusco’s most iconic landscapes with our Maras, Moray, and Salt Mines Tour—an ideal experience for those who want to learn about the engineering, agriculture, and traditions that made the Inca Empire great.

The adventure begins with a pickup from your hotel as we head to the picturesque village of Chinchero, known for keeping the ancestral customs of the Andes alive. Here, we’ll visit a textile interpretation center, where local artisans will demonstrate the traditional process of spinning, dyeing with natural pigments, and weaving textiles—skills that have been passed down from generation to generation.

We will continue our tour to Moray, one of the most fascinating archaeological sites in Cusco. Its enormous circular agricultural terraces were used by the Incas as an agricultural laboratory, where they experimented with different microclimates to improve the cultivation of various crops.

Our next stop will be Maras, home to the famous Maras Salt Pans, an impressive complex of more than three thousand salt pools fed by a natural spring. These salt pans have been in use since pre-Inca times and continue to be worked by local families using traditional techniques. From the overlooks, you’ll enjoy a spectacular view of this landscape, which is unique in the world.

Throughout the tour, you’ll be accompanied by a professional guide who will share the history, interesting facts, and cultural significance of each of these sites, helping you understand how the Incas developed advanced knowledge in agriculture, engineering, and social organization.

This tour is perfect for those looking to combine history, nature, photography, and culture in a half-day excursion through some of the most iconic sites in the Sacred Valley of the Incas.
